All-Round Pest Killers 

We:

1. Shall ensure that operations are within the framework of the Farm Feeds, Agricultural remedies and Stock Remedies Act, Act No. 36 of 1947 and related Regulations such as Pest Control Operator Regulations, Regulation No. 98 of 18 February 2011.

2.       Shall conduct risk assessment on the area to be treated detailing the nature and type of infestation and their causative conditions, determine the tolerance limit or threshold at which the pest causes sufficient damage to warrant use of Agricultural remedies;

3.       Shall make available a copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet(MSDS) to the hirer (client) on request;

4.       Shall ensure that all applicators are calibrated and in good working condition before using for spraying or fumigation purposes;

5.       Shall ensure that all pesticides operators that will be performing duties within the precinct of the client’s residence or institutions are registered in terms of Section 2 of the Fertilisers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural remedies and Stock Remedies Act, Act No. 36 of 1947;

6.       Shall ensure that all pesticides operators have valid registration certificates before applying any pesticides or agricultural remedies;

7.       Shall ensure that applicators are skilled in line with the requirements of Section 10 of the Fertilisers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural remedies and Stock Remedies Act, Act No. 36 of 1947;

8.       Shall respond to unscheduled call out requests to rid health premises of pests that may arise imminently such as bees;

9.       Shall provide a treatment report that is not limited to:

      • Date and time of the visit;
      • Name and registration number of the pest control operator and a telephone number at which the pest control operator or the contractor can be reached for more information about the proposed agricultural remedies use;
      • Type of the visit, i.e. routine, call out or follow-up;
      • The locations inspected and or treated;
      • Evidence of pests and method used to identify pests;
      • The type of pesticides or agricultural remedies recommended for use and or treatment, including trade name, ingredient(s), registration number and quantity;
      • the hazards associated with pesticides or agricultural remedies intended to be used and
      • precautions that should be taken to minimize exposure to pesticides or agricultural remedies or its residues, including a statement that indicates the period following the use during which people should not enter the treated area (re-entry period);
      • Recommended sanitation or housekeeping measures to eliminate infestation.

 

10.    Shall provide treatment notice before, during and after applying pesticide or agricultural remedies in line with Section 3, 4 and 5 of the Fertilisers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural remedies and Stock Remedies Act, Act No. 36 of 1947;

11.   Shall comply with the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993, Hazardous Chemical Substances Act, Act No. 15 of 1973 and Promotion of Access to Information Act, Act No. 2 of 2000.
